Bronze gold-plated Empire Pendulum clock - Honoré Pons - France - 1828

Very beautiful blackened Bronze Empire Pendulum clock with beautiful detailed gold-plated ornaments and sculpture group. The Empire pendulum clock is in very good condition and has a well-running Honoré Pons clapper movement from Paris, 1827. The movement features a thread suspension mechanism and strikes on a bell every full and half hour. The silver plated dial is in a beautifully crafted gold plated bronze. The movement is signed Med. D. Or Pons 1827. The winding key is included. The height is 37.5 cm, width 31 cm, depth 11 cm. This lot will be sent well-packaged and by registered post. It can be collected on consultation in s' Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands.Below is a short description of the creators: Médaille D'Or 1827 Méaille d'Argent 1823The pendulum maker Honoré PONS, born in genoble, came to Paris as a pendulum maker. The prefect of Seine–l'éférieure decided to let him come to St Nicolas d'Aliermont, where clocks were made by hand for more than a century. Pons settled there in 1807. He reorganized the division of labour with machines of his invention, the various models of which were deposited in 1806 at the Conservatory des Arts and Metiers in Paris.He invented all kinds of mechanisms and systems for clocks.He delivered 100 cogs a week to Paris, where he had two offices.He exhibited in Rouen in 1809. Obtained a medal d'argent in 1819 and 1823. A médaille d'Or in 1827, 1839 and 1844. His employees were Mathieu Croutte and Paul Rosetti.The family company Couaillet used Pons's cogs to assimilate clocks from 1913 to 1939.
