Matching colors, matching numbers.

All important papers, books and invoices included with the car.

In total only 502 400's were produced from 1976 to 1979.

This 400 GT/A is one of the more interesting and fast 2+2 GT's you can buy, especially for this money. It's enlarged V12 4,8 liter 340 bhp engine makes it quicker than it's 1972 predecessor and even faster than the fuel injected 1979 400i successor. It features timeless and very tasteful Pininfarina styling, inside and outside. Produced in only 502 units, the 400 GT 2+2 is actually the last legendary six double Weber fed V12 Ferrari to leave Maranello. On top of all that, this totally original and non restored matching numbers example has been maintained by acknowledged Ferrari specialists for 40 years and it still features the original two-tone leather interior with dark brown inserts, including the original Blaupunkt stereo and a well documented history, making this lovely Bruno Mogano Metallizzato example even more of a collectors car.

The front engined V12 400 was presented by Pininfarina at the 1976 Paris Auto Salon and it was designed to make miles of Autostrada disappear quickly, yet quietly, in style and comfort. The Pininfarina designed 400 GT/A was also the first Ferrari with an automatic gearbox and more luxurious successor to the 1972 365 GT4 2+2\. They both have the characteristic low belt line open airy feel, with excellent visibility and a nice clean free of frills design.

Ferrari enlarged displacement of the 60 degree V12 engine to 4823 cc giving 340 bhp to improve performance and a top speed over 245 km/h. These cars are luxurious touring GT's with air conditioning, power steering, beautiful leather on almost every surface, loads of trunk space, room for four adults and they are able to cruise comfortably all day long at speeds well above 160 km/h. This automatic version is equipped with the GM Turbo Hydra-matic three speed transmission. Such a wonderful timeless blend of speed and luxury. And well ahead of its time!

The identical looking fuel injected 400i was introduced at the end of 1979 to meet US emission regulations, but as a result of the Bosch injection system the engine had lost 30 bhp. And unfortunately it also didn't have the characteristic Weber induction howl anymore.

The revised 412 model replaced the 400i in 1985 and power was now up to 340 bhp again, which was produced until 1989. This 1979 V12 Ferrari 400 GT/A was one of the last 340 bhp cars fitted with six double Weber carburetors. It was sold new in Holland by Ferrari dealer Kroymans. The colour is Bruno Mogano (Glasurit FE-97-8386, brown copper metallic) with a Pininfarina styled interior tan leather interior, featuring dark brown inserts. According to the big history file accompanying the car the first owner was a well known Bentley collector from Blaricum, who mostly used the car for his long distance Autobahn business trips to Switzerland. In 1988 he bought a Ferrari Testarossa and sold his 400 to Mr. Van Doorne, former vice-president of the DAF Automobile Company in Eindhoven. The body work received a very professional respray, because Mr. Van Doorne absolutely wanted his Ferrari in mint condition. After 8 years the car was sold to long time Dutch Ferrari Club Member Mr. Leo Ferrari. Mr. Ferrari traded the 400 for a Maserati at a well known Dutch Ferrari collector in 2004, who carefully kept the car in his collection. In 2008 the 400 was sold to the current owner.

The engine still is the original numbered unit. The car has the original bodywork and still has the original at Pininfarina manufactured all leather interior. All mechanics are functioning very well and the car comes with a fresh service. The large history file clearly shows a lot of attention has gone into the car by its careful custodians.

Maintenance work, all done by Ferrari Specialist Italauto, include: new oil and air filters, a set of 215/70 VR15 Michelin XWX tires, new fuel lines and filter, new double radiator ventilator system, new water hoses, new exhaust system, new AC pump and recent AC service, new belts, rebuilt double Magneti Marelli ignition system, rebuilt and balanced driveline, new transmission filter and ATF, new disc brakes at the front and the rear brakes were totally rebuilt.

The car drives wonderfully, with loads of power and torque. It shifts very smooth and kick-down on the automatic is surprisingly quick. The revised and updated AC system works very well. All switches and power features work. Brakes are excellent, power steering is free of noises and even the self levelling Koni suspension works correct. The car handles fantastic, no body sway, clunks or rattles. Instruments all work correct.

This rare completely original and very tasteful Bruno Mogano example comes with a big history file showing owners, invoices, lots of copies and paper work. Due to careful ownership and official Ferrari maintenance the car still drives like new. Very difficult to find a better and still all original example in this condition, which makes this 400 GT/A in particular so desirable.

The car is registered in the Netherlands and has a fresh APK (like Controle technique, MOT, TUV).

Price is €72.500,-

We are located at 15 min from Amsterdam airport and 13 km only from the famous Louwman museum (a must visit!).
