Christien Meindertsma designed a series of objects focussing on the craftsmanship of rope making, for T.E. edities, with assistance from the Zuiderzeemuseum. After her research she went back to the origins of 16th-century Dutch rope: flax from the province of Zeeland. The fibres are spun into yarn and then woven, braided, twined and knotted into playful lamps.

The Elm is the special edition of the Flax series. This is distinguished by the special cap and the other wood components.
