Maserati 300S 1956 Rolling Chassis

US$330.00

By 1956, Maserati had a car that was competitive with the best sports cars of its class and a favorite for many drivers, including Stirling Moss. The vehicle incorporated many components of the successful Maserati 250F, but updates included a larger engine, a space frame structure, and an elongated nose to reduce air resistance. The result was a relatively light and nimble yet immensely powerful vehicle that captured the attention of talented drivers and top racing teams. Renowned drivers such as Stirling Moss, Piero Taruffi, Harry Schell and Jean Behra drove the race car and lead the Maserati team to many victories. One of the highlights of the Maserati 300S was its victory in the 1,000 km endurance race in May of 1956 in Nürburgring; they left their competitors in the dust. The 300S finished 2nd overall in the 1956 World Sportscar Championship. Not only was the vehicle a big hit on the race track but it was Maserati’s greatest financial success on the sales floor as well. To this day, it remains one of the finest handling front-engined sports cars.

This CMC Maserati 300S 1956 Rolling Chassis is a limited edition of 3,000 units that showcases the highly sophisticated lightweight design of the tubular space frame and other structural components that made this car an engineering tour de force and are an example of model-building at its finest.
