A late Victorian or Edwardian mahogany double-sided country house post box of rare form, the hinged lid above four bevelled glass panels, the longer sides inscribed POST, on a spreading rectangular base.
The unusually large scale of this post box is an indicator that this post box would have been used in an English country house of considerable size. The majority of country house post boxes are smaller in size. It would have been placed in a large entrance hall.
