This is a sublime walnut writing table in the Victorian manner, circa 1930. The desk is crafted from a beautiful walnut and features a striking brown leather top that has been hand tooled and gilded. It has wonderful hand carved barley twist legs which stand on their original brass and porcelain castors. The desk features also decorative brass handles. This desk has three drawers, perfectly sized for all the stationary you could possibly need, making it not just a symbol of refinement but a practical furnishing as well. As these ‘growth’ areas were limited in both occurrence and size, larger veneers were hard to source and often on bigger furniture (tables, desks, bureaus, cabinets etc), these veneers would have to be carefully joined by matching up the pieces or blending them together.
