Wonderful Venetian coat of arms depicting the Lion of St. Mark “in moléca”, in Carrara statuary marble (in dialect it is called “Leon in moeca”. This expression refers to the position in which the lion is usually portrayed: with a Gospel between its paws and with the shape of the wings that makes the lion similar to a crab. In Venetian, moléca is the name of small crabs). Item of excellent workmanship, from the city of Venice. It was customary to embed the coat of arms in the walls of the most important villas in the area (typical characteristic of this place). This lot is one of a kind, of extraordinary quality, entirely carved and worked by hand and very well detailed. In perfect condition, intact in all its parts. The Carrara statuary marble is precious and rare, with fine and elegant veins.From a private collection. The item is evocative and precious, well proportioned and with reasonable dimensions.
