**An Exhibition or Museum Quality Silver Epergne or Table Centrepiece London 1773 by Thomas Pitts**



**The epergne with seven detachable baskets or dishes, the arms and baskets or dishes each numbered & marked, the central basket with engraved oval heraldic shield to either side, the baskets & dishes each with an engraved seated unicorn crest. The stand on four scroll supports linked by cast aprons of flowering foliage and ribbon tied swags with an urn embossed shield to each of the four sides. Standing on pierced scrolling leaf capped pad feet. Each of the pierced baskets with conforming decoration. The central column of ribbed wicker form with festooned swags. The two higher baskets can be swivelled in their rests. Each arm detachable as are all the baskets and the central column.**



**All the parts are identically marked for London 1773 by Thomas Pitts.**



**This is a spectacular and highly important piece of silver by renowned specialist Epergne maker Thomas Pitts. In absolutely original unrestored condition with no signs of damage or repair all the hallmarks being absolutely clearly legible and showing very little signs of any wear. This is a truly magnificent piece of highly skilled silversmithing and would be a remarkable centrepiece on any table in any setting.**
