### **A suzuribako and bunko in lacquer**


**Meiji period, late 19th century, Japan**

**23.3cm and 28.8 cm long respectively**

**9.17 inches and 11.34 inches long respectively**

Each is decorated in gold, silver and red togidashi-e with a band of chrysanthemums and foliage on a graduated nashigi ground terminating in black, muranashigi interior and fundame rims. The suzuribako with slate inkstone and a waterdropper cast as plum flowers.
