One VVIP owner's watch purchased new from the Cartier boutique in KLCC, Malaysia. This_Cartier Santos 100_ in solid 18K White Gold has been refurbished and presents good as new now while the original pearl-pink alligator strap has seen little use. There is a pavé field of brilliant-cut diamonds set onto the facade of this watch from the bezel to lugs & even the protective horns for the crown! Cartier only selects the best precious stones for their products, guaranteeing a standard of sparkling brilliance. The 7 sided crown has a large cut-diamond set into it which is a hallmark of their diamond watches. This is a rare watch in the pre-owned market not to be missed & being a hi-jewellery model, this version is usually only found with the boutiques that don't give discounts unless you're a repeat client and even so, it is never more than 15% from retail. Unfortunately, Cartier does not have the practise of informing the public on the weight of the diamonds used on their watches so we don't know the details unless the watch is sent to a gemologist for evaluation but this would be an unusual request. Louis Cartier created the Santos watch in 1904 for his dear friend & pioneer aviator Alberto Santos Dumont. The Brazilian was thus able to see time on his wrist instead of pulling out a pocket watch to read while flying. The rectangular wristwatch with rounded edges and exposed screws on the bezel became an icon ever since and in 2004, the centenary of this watch, Cartier celebrated by introducing the Santos 100 collection which drew a huge success till date.
