The Amel 54 is a long distance cruising ketch designed with safety,comfort and ease of handling in mind. Electric powered controls allow easy sail management from the safety of the protected helm station and the ketch rig can be managed by a couple or even the skipper alone.The vessel has been carefully maintained by her first and only owner with regular advice from the builders Chantiers Amel in La Rochelle, France and has been regularly hauled out for anti-fouling and servicing the unique Amel transmission and Burntons folding propeller. Other cruising amenities include an 11 KW genset, retracting bow thruster, 180L/H water-maker, air-conditioning, comprehensive navigation/communications equipment, built in redundancy (2 chart plotters, 2 auto pilots, 2 anchor windlasses) and water tight compartments for peace of mind on long ocean passages. Accommodations comprise 2 private cabins and 3 single berths. This Amel 54 participated in the 2009 Atlantic Rally for Cruisers from Las Palmas to St Lucia and in the 2010/2011 World ARC Rally from St Lucia to Bali.
