A Perfect Day (and Night) of Luxury in Monte Carlo
Monte Carlo has always been the playground of the rich and famous, and it’s easy to see why with its incredible views, amazing nightlife and glamorous hotels. Monte Carlo is the central quarter of the principality of Monaco, as they say good things come in small packages and this is certainly true of this independent city-state. Monaco is only three miles long by one-half miles wide, which is roughly the same size as New York’s Central Park. If you want to spend an unforgettable time in Monte Carlo, look no further than this guide!
When visiting Monte Carlo the first thing you need to decide is where you would like to stay. There are several hotels here that make a suitable choice for the discerning traveller. The Monte-Carlo Beach, a luxury hotel which has been a favourite of those in the know for almost 100 years is highly recommended. Why not kick off your luxury break to Monte Carlo by arriving by superyacht (you can’t beat a Sunseeker), and moor up to the hotel’s private jetty where you can check-in admiring the sumptuous surroundings. A suite is always the choice de jour and the Monte-Carlo Beach Diamond Suite, which comes with a panoramic view of the pool, sea and mountains and its own dressing room, loggia and library area, is the ultimate choice.
A Ferrari on the streets of Monte Carlo
Since you’ll be in Monaco, why not take a supercar for a spin? You can hire a supercar from the likes of King Rent, where you can choose from luxury brands like Bentley, Aston Martin, or even a Ferrari. You can’t beat the experience of driving around the stunning coast of the French Riviera, which offers breath-taking views of the aquamarine Mediterranean around every corner.
Don’t forget to stop-off for a spot of brunch at one of the best brunching spots in Monte Carlo – the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel. You can indulge in some of the best seafood in the region here, all the while taking in the glorious vistas.
When it’s time to work off your brunch, there are very few places where you can say that you have walked the entire length and breadth of the country, but Monaco is one of them. Depending on the kind of pace that you like, you can easily walk from end-to-end (stopping off for a glass of wine or a bowl of gelato on the way of course!)
Monte Carlo is, naturally, one of the most luxurious shopping destinations in the world and you can find top fashion houses here such as Chanel, Cartier, Dior, Hermes and Sonia Rykiel. You can’t beat a fun afternoon shopping, but don’t work yourself too hard as you will want to have some time to relax before the evening’s festivities.
When the sun begins to set why not book a table at Le Louis XV – Alain Ducasse? Situated at the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo, Chef Ducasse is famed for having two sets of three Michelin stars for two restaurants at the same time. His Guinea fowl is well worth a try and it tastes delicious with a crisp glass of champagne.
The Casino de Monte Carlo
Looking for an elegant and exhilarating night out? Then an evening at the gloriously sumptuous Casino de Monte Carlo is called for. This exclusive complex, which also houses the national ballet company and the Grand Theatre de Monte Carlo, is the place in Monaco to enjoy an exciting game of poker. Fashions at the card tables have changed throughout the years, and many players are keen to make a statement with their style. However, if you really want to cut a dash in the main parlour of Monaco’s most luxurious casino then you should definitely dress to impress!
You can’t beat an exciting night in the bars and clubs of Monte Carlo, and the best place to start is at Jimmy’z. The hippest nightspot in town, you can enjoy a delicious glass of champagne here whilst people-watching in the renowned Japanese Garden. La Rascasse is also worth a visit. It is a vibrant, bustling bar which offers an impressive range of cocktails.
From superyachts to supercars and from Chanel to Champagne, Monte Carlo has to be one of the most glamorous of places to visit for a mini break, and is the ideal destination for Summer 2018. It might be tiny, but it definitely packs a punch! If you’re looking for a luxury break, look no further than the stunning location of Monte Carlo.
