We expect most sleek sports cars on the road to be hybrids. However, the Bugatti Chiron is a model on its own. It maintains the fundamental principles and powertrain of the Veyron model. Apart from that, the Chiron is unique in all other aspects.
The Bugatti Chiron made sales of the first 200 units before the delivery of the car. The Forbes ranks the Bugatti Chiron as the fourth most expensive car in the world. This aspect can be because the car tests all the limits of physics. The comfortability, aerodynamics, powertrain, and dynamic controls are off the charts.
The Chiron has five inbuilt driving modes to choose from. You can go for Top Speed, Lift, Handling, Auto, and Autobahn.
Specs
One thing you will notice about the Bugatti Chiron is its engine power. The development of the engine is done on each aspect to achieve 25% increase in performance. However, the engine is an upgrade of the Veyron’s 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16. The engine is dependent on fossil fuel unlike the new models from other brands that we have seen.
The quad turbocharger enables the engine to reach a torque of up to 1,600 Nm. The engine distributes its power to all the four wheels. However, gearbox system is the Veyron’s upgraded version of the seven-speed twin-clutch. But that does not affect the efficiency and power of this road master.
The fuel consumption in urban areas is estimated at l/100km: 35.2. So, with its acceleration speed of 0-60mph in 2.4 seconds, you save a lot of fuel. For safety reasons, the top speed of the Bugatti Chiron is electronically limited to 261mph. The braking system becomes a hot technical factor for a car of this magnitude of speed. The Bugatti Chiron braking system comprises of carbon silicon carbide which is 2mm thicker and 20mm larger.
The Bugatti Chiron cooling system is super. The system can circulate air of up to 800 liters simultaneously. In one minute the upgraded system pumps an approximate of 60,000 liters through the engine. It allows you to maintain top speed for long without overheating the engine.
Design
The interior design of the car reduces any driver’s distractions. As the diver increases their speed, the information on the digital TFT screens reduces. It enables the driver to focus more on the road. The cockpit comprises of metal and leather elements. The speaker diaphragms get their support from a one-carat diamond.
The exterior of the car is more like its predecessors. The Veyron has a perfect aerodynamic technology. There is no significant alteration in the exterior design of the car. The designers used carbon fibers in the body structure. This helps in reducing the overall weight of the car. The stiffness of the carbon fibers is 50,000 Nm per degree.
Final Take
The engineering and the design of the car maximizes the power, cooling, handling, and braking system. The designers strategically put air dams under the flat underbody tray. The brakes have an advanced cooling system and a system also to reduce hot air. The Bugatti Chiron is just an engineering masterpiece.
