FF40 Racing was called F40LM short for LeMan, there was only two built limited to IMSA (International Motorsports Association) it was only a matter of time for Ferrari VIP customers requesting to have an F40 in the same style of the F40LM. Ferrari was pleased to accommodate the request and that's how the F40 Competizione was created. The was often called F40LM because of its design and it being similar style and power train of the two cars raced in IMSA.

The VIP cars had a 200bhp power boost on the standard Road Going F40's giving a total power output to 700bhp making the F40LM the fastest and most desirable F40 available.
