Replacing the well-established and suitably respected 458 was always a tall order, with only Ferrari knowing how to produce successors to already flawless models. A dramatic change in exterior design could brand it as the 'younger, better looking sibling', but actually all the alterations come with intentions only to improve performance and handling.

With 50% increased down force and reduced aerodramatic drag the 488 has clever exterior designs to enhance the drivers experience. A new front double splitter channels air for increased radiator cooling and over the underbody vortex generators. A newly designed blown rear spoiler integrated into the rear decklid and bumper increases downforce without requiring a raised wing.

Homage to the side air intakes found on the 308 GTB, the air flow is directed partially into the turbocharger intake and partially through the rear, exiting alongside the lights to increase rear downward pressure.

The 488 has been sculptured to please the eye whilst painstakingly challenging aerodynamic limits. With this, the car received numerous 'supercar of the year' awards. Powered by a 3.9 L all aluminium dry-sump twin-turbocharged engine, it produces a staggering 661 BHP.
