"The best classic luxury limousine money can buy"
The 1969 Mercedes-Benz W100 600Pullman introduced here is one of 428 examples built as a technological showcase that stunned Rolls-Royce when it first came out. It was one of the best chauffeur-driven vehicles the market could offer and this individual has accumulated 26,000 km.
From a distance, the first thing that comes to your mind would probably be that it looks more majestic or even intimidating than its 6.2 meter long frame suggests. The paint still remains beautiful and glossy with no detectable dents and scratches on its body, suggesting it has been delicately treated like a stretched limousine deserves to be. As for the tires, the surface looks fresh enough with sufficient grooves left.
Inside its vast interior space, there are two rows of rear-passenger seats facing each other only found in a long-wheelbase chauffeur driven limousine. Everything inside is either upholstered with leather or covered by wooden panels and remains in excellent condition. Though some signs of rubbing are detected, there is no breakage on the surface of the driver's seat. A large-diameter steering wheel prevents the car from exhibiting sudden behaviors and therefore contributes to a rear-passenger comfort. The glass partition automatically moves up and down to ensure privacy for the rear cabin.
The 3.9-meter long wheelbase guarantees abundant leg room even with guests sitting face-to-face. A refrigerator is installed on the center console and shows what kind use this car was intended for.
Is is very awe-inspiring to see that its windows, sunroof, and trunk lid are all automatically operated almost sound-free. This smooth, soundless operation was achieved by the use of complex hydraulic pressure system which well-describes what luxury is all about.
While a growing number of the wealthy all over the newly emerging countries encouraged the introduction of many high-tech luxury sedans today to meet their needs, it is way more satisfying to own a vintage and luxurious limousine like the one offered here.
"The history of the Mercedes-Benz W100"
Mercedes-Benz gave everything within its power to develop the W100 which made its debut at Frankfurt Show in 1963 to be called the fastest, safest, and most luxurious automobile on road.
It came in two variants: a short 3200mm-wheelbased 5/6 seater sedan and a stretched 3900mm-wheelbased 7/8 seater limousine called Pullman. It was also fully-customizable to detailed specification of the clients including both interior and exterior.
The W100 was powered by the 6332cc SOHC V8 unit pumping out 250PS at 4000rpm. Its power-steering, power-windows, and automatic trunk-lid action were hydraulically controlled for smooth and soundless operation that is said to have shocked Rolls-Royce, the undisputed king of the category.
By the time the production of the W100 ceased, Mercedes had given birth to 2190 short-wheelbased sedans and 428 stretched limousines.
