**HISTORY OF THE MG TD**
The successor to the popular MG TC, the TD was first constructed in 1949 with MG eyeing the North American market who previously fell in love with the sporty appeal of the TC. Improvements over its predecessor were plentiful with the TD being five inches wider (for more room in the passenger compartment) while front independent suspension as well as rack and pinion steering greatly improved handling. Smaller wheels with bigger tires allowed for more refined front fenders while a now standard 4-speed gearbox allowed for higher speed cruising. The hand-built quality of the TD added to the charm and production of the model lasted until 1953\. A perfect combination of pre-war style with post-war performance, the TD helped to solidify MG's reputation as a sports car company. Today the MG TD is still perceived as a charming British roadster with timeless appeal. It is no wonder why examples are respected and collected in both professional and enthusiast circles. *please note that this vehicle is titled under its engine number.
