The 1947 Packard Custom Super Clipper Eight Touring Sedan featured here is finished in stunning Ebony Black over a wonderful blue cloth interior. This particular example was previously subject to a meticulous restoration that has started to show some patina which only adds to the charm of this classic motorcar. The Custom Super Clipper Sedan is one of only a handful of post-war Packard's accepted by the Classic Car Club of America as a Full Classic and with one look at the exceptional build quality and stunning simulated woodgrain on the interior it is easy to understand why. We are proud to offer this senior level Packard to the most astute collector, investor or enthusiast who understands the legacy of the legendary marque. Classic cars have proven to be among the most resilient and rewarding investments in recent years with the Historic Automobile Group Index (HAGI) jumping 39% in 2013 and posting gains of 395-percent over the last 10-years. HISTORY OF THE PACKARD SUPER CLIPPER EIGHT TOURING SEDAN
For 1947 Packard continued to push design into the true postwar phase, facing heavy competition from other marques such as Studebaker and Kaiser-Frazer. The 21st series Packard nomenclature continued through 1946 and featured new grille characteristics that would influence future designs. The new models were a perfect combination of style and sophistication that continued to showcase Packard as one of America's most premiere manufacturers. Packard's most expensive 6-passenger offering was the Custom Super Clipper Eight Touring Sedan which cost more than $3,400 when it was new. Only 5,690 Custom Super Clipper Eight Sedans were built for 1947 making their collector appeal today very high, especially considering the model's Full Classic notoriety from the Classic Car Club of America.
