The MG VA, originally called the MG 1½-Litre, was unveiled to public at the 1936 Motor Show. Its looks were highly reminiscent of the popular MG SA, however in a smaller scale. The VA featured a unique-to-itself box-channeled frame that swept over the rear axle to accommodate the half elliptic leaf spring suspension that was soft by design. Four wheel hydraulic brakes were a standard feature while the 1,548cc inline-four cylinder engine was outfitted with twin SU carburetors and produced 55 horsepower. Three stylish bodies were available from the factory including a Four Door Sports Saloon, a stylish Drophead Coupe, and a Four Seat Tourer. The Tourer was not only the scarcest of the three body styles produced, but it was also the fastest. It was tested by the British magazine The Motor who achieved 132km/h (82mph) with the top down and windshield folded flat. MG VA production would cease in 1939 with the start of WWII. It is approximated that only 2,407 MG VA's were built with roughly only 564 being outfitted as the sport Tourer model.

The 1937 MG VA Tourer featured here is finished in stunning all black with a beautiful dark green Connolly leather interior. This magnificent motorcar was purchased by its second owner in 1939 where it remained for the next 75 years. A concours level restoration has been performed and this MG VA is now ready for the show circuit or Concours d'Elegance.
