Dirk van der Kooij has developed a completely new way to ‘write’ products. Using 3D software on his computer, he makes layered line drawings. A robot follows these lines and then builds up the products. The Satellite lamp is built from the fat wavy lines typical of this technique. The lamp is made from old CD covers which are melted as input for the robot. The transparent material has a diffuse quality which enhances the light source. The three circular light sources can be regulated in warmth and strength by the two big buttons on the lamp.
