Rare DTW-1 Dining Table in Walnut by Charles Eames for Herman Miller
US$6,800.00
United States, 1945-1946
Charles Eames designed the DTW-1 table in 1945 as a companion to his plywood dining chairs. Manufactured by the Molded Plywood Division of Evans Products in Venice, California, and marketed by Herman Miller, the dining table appeared in a 1946 exhibit of the Eames’s plywood furniture at MoMA. Originally designed for mass production, the table was in fact produced for only a couple of years and has become a collector’s item. Four lacquered plyformed legs folded into right angles hold up a rectangle of walnut veneer. Created as a “knockdown” for easy shipping and storage, the great condition of this table will keep it on display.
