The Nuage Vase began as a Bouroullec brothers project in 2002, when it was originally produced as a plastic-shelf module influenced by the shape of a cloud. Over the years, the brothers varied the shape and repeatedly incorporated it in their graphic work. The final design is executed in extruded aluminum and features eight tubular cavities that form contours on the design's surface. The tubes can be used for the artful arrangement of flowers and grasses. The undulating surfaces have an anodized finish that creates an attractive interplay of light and shadow. The precise outer contours are designed so that the vases can be fitted together to create entire "cloud formations."
