Dirk graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2010. He has developed a new technique to ‘write’ chairs and other objects. Using 3D design software he makes line drawings in multiple layers. The Robot then follows these lines and builds the chair in 3.5 hours, ‘en profil’. The Robot is fed with material recycled from old refrigerators which are pulverised under pressure and combined with pigment. The Robot uses this input to produce red-hot strands of material to build up the chair.
The chair is available in a rocking chair version and a dining chair version. Both chairs are available in blue, yellow, grey, green, red and black.
