The playful and simple optical appeal of Nir Chehanowski's BULBING lamps has made them fast favorites among contemporary design fans. Part of the series's second collection, the Dome lamp is intended to function like a desk lamp, but can be used like a night light, too. A flat sheet of clear acrylic is carefully laser engraved and perched from a birch wood arm and iron base. When illuminated, LED light travels through the lines, suggesting the form of a traditional table light. It's a brilliant challenge to our perceptions of 3D objects.
