An important Renaissance domed topped, leather clad and painted Iron-bound chest of continental origin dated to the front and side 1605. The chest retaining its original renaissance painted decoration, depicting to its front amongst chateauxed gardens a musical soiree with singer, dancers and lutenist. Provenance: To be sold with an interesting 'Provenance' being lately from Plumpton Place - The Elizabethan Manor House in Sussex formerly owned by Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page. The chest formerly the property of Arthur Davidson the renowned London antiques dealer who sold it to the revered venture capitalist Tom Perkins. The chest mercifully still in unrestored condition with some losses to its iron-work.
