Early 19th Century fine Regency 'lyre' fronted library armchair in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster. The back flanked by scrolling arms and raised on Lyre-shaped mahogany frames with reeded details and turned front legs terminating in brass cups and casters.

This Gillows pattern chair relates to 'Easy Chairs' supplied by Gillows of London and Lancaster for Hackwood Park, Basingstoke, Hampshire and listed in their 1813 Memorandum. Related chairs also feature in a number of Gillow's early 19th Century room elevations preserved at the Victoria and Albert Museum (E.47-1952).
