CHÂTEAU MOUTON ROTHSCHILD (1.5L) 1959
US$11,032.90
Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild bought the chateau in 1853 but the legend of ""Mouton"" really began in 1922 with Baron Philippe de Rothschild. Aged of 21and driven by ambition full of originality, he decided to devote his life to forge for the wine an identity and a worldwide fame, which, from its first hours, shone on the image of Bordeaux as a whole.
In 1924, facing many deviances with the merchants of Bordeaux, the owner decided to bottle his wine at the chateau, with the mention "" mise en bouteilles intégrale au chateau"" (bottling at the chateau). After him, all the chateau followed the trend of bottling at the chateau. In 1945, to celebrate the liberation, "" V ""for Victory crowns the label of the vintage, an initiative that will mark the beginning of a series of original works created each year by famous painters.
