This series of three bows, crafted specially for the Chamber Collection, are composite bows made using ancient methods and naturally occurring materials. Meant to be used on horseback, they were fashioned from wood, horn, tendons and animal glue-all components of traditional bow making. This "Scythian Horn Bow," is modeled after the oldest style of bow studied by the designer: a 3,000-year-old Scythian bow discovered in a grave at the eastern end of the Silk Road. Its exaggerated shape is based on the horns of an Ibex, a creature with curved horns that was highly revered by the Scythians.
