RARE WOOLLY RHINO PARTIAL JAW FROM HOLLAND
US$695.00
* This extremely rare jaw section with beautiful teeth comes from a woolly rhinoceros (_Coelodonta antiquitatis_). It is a exceptional find, dredged from the floor of the North Sea in the Netherlands, and dates to 40 000 years old - Pleistocene Epoch. This Woolly rhino makes a wonderful addition to any Ice Age mammal collection.
* The jaw measures 28 cm / 11 inches long x 13.3 cm / 5.25 inches high x 5.4 cm / 2.15 inches inches deep. Largest tooth (including visible root) measures 7.6 cm / 3 inches. Weighs 1.22 kilograms / 21 oz. Note: like all fossils from the North Sea, a sealant was applied to prevent deterioration due to the change of environment.
* Like other Ice Age Megafauna, including Woolly mammoths, the Woolly rhino was well suited to the cold environment because of its considerably thick woolly pelage.
