These six photographs, part of a suite of twenty images taken in 1966 for the NASA_LRC Lunar Orbiter Project, document the craterous surface of the moon with the objective of identifying smooth areas suitable for landing future missions to the moon. Despite creases and some wear to the edges, the historic photographs remain in good condition. They were initially transmitted to Earth as analog data after being scanned as a series of strips onboard the aircraft. Their data was recorded on magnetic tape and film; the film was later used to produce a large-frame mosaic view of the the lunar surface.
