The central shield painted with the Royal Motto 'Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense' held by supporting Lion and Unicorn, with helmet, scrolling acanthus leaves and lion above, inscribed 'Dieu Et Mon Droit'.
This large representation of the Royal Coat of Arms was used by shops and traders who were granted the Royal Warrant. The Royal Motto means 'Evil Be To He Who Evil Thinks', and the motto below means 'God And My Right'.
A Coat of Arms of this size would have been made for a retailer of considerable size, such as Selfridges or Harrods, and would have graced a front entrance.
