A George V silver and crocodile skin photograph frame, the cavetto-shaped crocodile skin frame with a silver border hallmarked for London 1911, maker's mark JCV for for John Collard Vickery, with a black canvas backing.
JC Vickery was a well-known retail business established in 1890 by John Collard Vickery in partnership with Arthur Thomas Hobbs at 183, Regent Street. Vickery continued the business on his own from 1891 onwards until his death in 1930\\. In 1913 he is listed as a goldsmith, silversmith, jeweller, dressing case and fitted travelling bag manufacturer, wath and clock importer, and high class leather goods manufacturer. He held Royal Warrants from HM King George V and other European Royalty.
Our photograph frame is exceptional for its size, deluxe combination of crocodile skin and silver, and having the mark of one of the leading retailers in Edwardian England.
