Swiss Maison de Haute Ecriture, Caran d’Ache, presents a new limited edition series of fine writing instruments that promises to transport collectors back in time, along the shores of Geneva’s beautiful Lac Léman. Each piece in the trilogy captures the beauty of the lakes in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, with landscapes from old maps and quotations of renowned authors that have been secret guests on the lake’s shores subtly engraved on its silver-plated, platinum-coated body and accented with black lacquer. The first in the series, the Secret Journey I, pays tribute to the city of Lausanne, marked on its body with a 0.06 carat diamond. A clever mechanism is manually engaged to reveal words spoken by Voltaire. The fountain pen features a platinum-coated 18-carat gold nib engraved with the points of a compass, and is available in three widths, fine, medium and large, while the roller pen’s piston pump comes crowned with a 0.03 carat diamond. Presented in a black lacquer box depicting the Lausanne region, the case also includes a raw glass inkwell with a silver-plated cap for the fountain pen. Only 300 fountain pens and 150 roller pens have been produced, with each fine instrument in this limited collection bearing a unique number. They are priced at S$15,900 for the fountain pen and S$14,300 for the roller pen, while the trilogy is priced at S$53,000 when launched.
