In the late 1950’s and early 1960’s Ferrari and Aston Martin engaged in a heated competition for the World Sportscar Championship. And so the DB4GT Zagato was born from an attempt to usurp Ferrari. The original Aston Martin DB4 could not stand a chance, so Aston Marin approached Zagato, the famous Italian coachbuilder. The result was a new iconic design vocabulary: a lengthened nose, a more pronounced grille, softer styling, and a lighter and faster car. Unfortunately, the face-lift was not enough to satisfy Aston Martin’s hopes for a race-wining, Ferrari-beating GT. At the 1961 24 Hours of Le Mans, both Aston Martin DB4GT entries retired early from the race. Nonetheless, the DB4GT Zagato is remembered as a GT race car with elegant pedigree, combining beauty, rarity, and sport. To this day, the Aston Marin DB4GT remains one of the most valuable and collectible cars in the brand’s history.

The CMC Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato 1961 recognizes the mythical and sporting provenance of the original Grand Touring motor car. It is worth noting, that since there are many variations on the nineteen original DB4GT Zagatos, historic accuracy is elusive so this model is the best possible representation of the defining characteristics of the automobile.
