Joanne Woodward, Newman’s wife, got the exotic watch as a gift to her husband with “DRIVE CAREFULLY ME” on the back. This was the genesis of the Daytona raising to the fame and bragging rights it has today.

The significant difference between the Paul Newman’s Daytona and the vintage Daytona watches is the dial. Apart from the dial, the watches are mechanically identical. However, watch collectors put a high market price on the Paul Newman’s Daytona compared to the vintage. But the real deal remains the Rolex Daytona Paul Newman that was on the man himself.
