Louis Vuitton: A Regal Journey

Widely recognized by its distinct emblem, Louis Vuitton is celebrated for its timeless staples and unique monogrammed pattern emblazoned with its characteristic diamonds, flowers and circles.

Despite its diversification into ready-to-wear apparel and handbags, the brand continues to pay homage to its origin as a producer of trunks. Although Vuitton has been associated with opulence and artistry, the brand’s humble beginnings can be traced to the east of France. Unable to tolerate his stern stepmother and weary of his rustic existence, Vuitton departed Anchay for Paris where he served his apprenticeship at an established workshop.

There, Louis gained recognition for his aptitude in box making and packing and in 1853, was commissioned to design packaging for Napoleon Bonaparte’s wife, Empress Eungénie de Montijo. During his appointment, Louis acquired a broad base of aristocratic patrons and opened his own workshop where he created the initial canvas trunk and advanced the concept of rectangular trucks at a time when rounded trucks were commonplace. With inside hangers, a removable suitcase and a number of separate compartments, the vintage Louis Vuitton flip top wardrobe trunk that can be found on Luxify exhibits the values that built the foundation of the brand: an unrelenting commitment to quality and its meticulous discernment for detail.
