Apple Watch vs Tag Heuer Android Watch
The tug of war between Android and Apple fans is likely to continue till then and beyond, and it remains to be seen whether either device – or both – turn into a timeless masterpiece.
A couple of weeks ago, Swiss watch maestro Tag Heuer announced its plans to develop an extravagant, elegant – and of course, expensive – Android Smartwatch. By tieing up with tech giants Google and Intel, Tag Heuer’s latest flagship is expected to feature an armour of functions and finesses. In fact, it is already being touted as a challenger to Apple Watch Edition, the smartwatch uniquely laden with 18-karat gold.
Since details of the Tag Heuer Smartwatch is still under wraps, it’s too early to review it, or make specific comparisons to Apple’s juggernaut. From the initial reactions though, Tag Heuer seems to have secured a coup by collaborating with two of Silicon Valley’s greatest incumbents. Using state of the art chip processors from Intel, and the most updated Android Wear software features directly from Google, the Tag Heuer Smartwatch has all the makings, and backings, of a luxurious blockbuster.
Further, with Android being an open-source system, the playing field would only get larger. Besides the users of popular Samsung and LG smartphones, those using relatively smaller brands like XiaoMi and HuaWei would also be able to connect their smartphones with the Tag Heuer Smartwatch. This should ripple into more Smartwatch apps being flooded onto the market.
Meanwhile, Apple prides itself in its exclusivity. Despite maintaining a restrictive control over which devices and apps can sync to its smartwatch, Apple remains confident of its ammunition to compete with the rest. By amalgamating the aesthetics of real gold and sapphire crystals with its hugely popular and innovative iOS, Apple’s first new product in five years could yet become another bestseller.
Apple’s smartwatch releases worldwide today, whereas Tag Heuer is expected to showcase its smartwatch by year end. The tug of war between Android and Apple fans is likely to continue till then and beyond, and it remains to be seen whether either device – or both – turn into a timeless masterpiece.
