Nicknamed the crossroads of the world, Times Square has approximately 35,000people crossing it every day. This area of New York is, at all times of the day or night, constantly bustling. This frenetic agitation is definitely what Laurent Dequick aims to represent in this photograph. The photographer adds and superimposes photos of the passers-by in Times Square. This accumulation gives an impression of overpopulation. The entire crowd converges towards a vanishing point incorporated between the skyscrapers. This single crowd movement can also be interpreted as a critique of consumer society which standardizes the masses.

This 40 year old photographer is an architect by profession. There are signs of this in his work as it is first of all a reflection on contemporary cities and more specifically about the proliferation of modern urban space.
