An expert on underwater photography, Kurt Arrigo consistently surpasses the limits of possibility in order to create new and original shots, involving both sport and maritime exploration. His photographs are taken both above and beneath the surface of the water, playing on the various effects that the penetration and filtering of light provoke there. He also succeeds in revealing the fluidity and grace of the movements of racehorses in the ocean, offering a wonderful sensation of freedom and escape.

Kurt Arrigo is among the great specialists of marine photography. In the course of his career, already illustrious and varied, he has notably covered high-level nautical competitions, swum with hammerhead sharks, and undertaken intrepid environmental projects from the Galapagos Islands to the Himalayas. Born in 1969 on the island of Malta in the Mediterranean, he has been passionate about the marine environment since childhood and was a precocious swimmer, diver, and sailor. He was hired as a professional photographer for the first time in 1992 to cover the Americaâs Cup, and was later invited to cover many other regattas, such as the Rolex Fastnet Race or La Barcolana. Beyond his many commissions for advertising, his work also gained recognition through the famous Underwater World Championships of Photography held in the Red Sea in 1995, and on the occasion of the annual Communications Arts photography competition in 1997. In 2012, he was finally awarded the prestigious prize of Yacht Racing Image of the Year.
