The Cat Street Gallery is proud to exhibit Camie Lyons second solo show in Hong Kong 'Tenderness and Tenacity’ after a hugely successful sell out show in 2012. Lyons will be returning to The Cat Street Gallery with a total of 24 works, consisting of 12 sculptures and 12 charcoal drawings. The show builds upon myths, legends, wings and magic reflecting on her inspiration from the delicate landscapes of imagination and soul building. 'Tenderness and Tenacity' comes from the ephemeral of imagination and emotion, it's a glimpse made solid into an internal world. The title of this exhibition lights the path to understanding the work. There is nothing tender in the making of bronze sculpture, it is sheer hot, hard work but Lyons aims to capture flowing lines and ideas, to evoke emotion and understanding. “The sculptures can be shifted around a room, placed at different angles, lit to create drama; this makes them quite versatile and surprising.” Lyons lives and works in Sydney where she has had several solo exhibitions. Receiving recognition for her studies in movement and form, her work can be found in public and private collections in Australia, Hong Kong, Sweden, France, London, New York and Thailand. Lyons studied Fine Arts at Melbourne’s RMIT University and was then awarded her Masters at Sydney’s COFA.
