For these new works, the artist is presenting photographs taken in Paris, Versailles and Barcelona. It as though there were a spatial dimension to these images of architecture. The work of Franck Bohbot is characterised by both objectivity and hyperrealism: he reveals all the power of the very essence of these sites. The artist plunges the spectator into contemplation of the architecture. The vision that the artist renders is that of his eye hidden behind the lens, focusing purely on the site, in a world devoid of any human presence. In the manner of Becher, whether it be through his typology or his documentary style, with these new works the artist once again demonstrates the rich diversity of his photographs. The choice of locations is never left to chance and includes theatres, train stations or libraries. He appropriates sites that symbolise travel and culture, in colours inherent to the artist's style, which gives his photographs both a cinematographic and documentary feel. Mystery and paradox emanates from these powerful and beautiful images, no doubt owing to the 'absence of presence', the framing and lighting that the artist has chosen to immortalise each site.
