Janus,1969 Serigraph 110/125 81 x 58 cm (32 x 23 3/4 in) Preoccupied with religious tensions throughout the course of his career, Ossorio here portrays Janus, the Roman god of beginnings and ends. Depicted with two faces, one looking to the future and one to the past, the figure's duality mirrors a merging of Ossorio's styles through print__frenetic expressionist lines of his work in the early 50s anchor scattered orbs and floating fragments resembling his 60s assemblages dubbed "Congregations."
