St. Maria Goretti,1950 Wax and watercolor 43 x 28 cm (17 x 11 in) Created in 1950 while Ossorio was visiting his familys sugarcane factory in Victorias, Negros Occidental, St. Maria Goretti was one of some 300 paintings collectively known as the artists Victorias Paintings. This particular work showcases a primitivism of subject, an all-over composition of expressionist line and one of the artists most enduring preoccupations -the assimilation of the interior and exterior elements of human form onto one image.
