Wonderful English travel desk or writing desk preserved in perfect condition.As you can see from the precious brass plate at the top,this writing desk belonged to a manager of the Sheffield company and was donated to him by his friends at the time of his resignation, on 26 December 1883.Dimensions: closed cm 41 x 23 x 28 height open cm 41 x 66 x 28 height writing surface 45 x 41 cm.The writing desk has a perfectly working key.It was well preserved by the family from whom I bought it for its historical value.The item is characterised by a light wood that was beautifully polished to enhance its grain.On the sides there are two handles to lift the desk, given its heavy weight.Inside, the writing desk can be opened in three parts,showing a writing top covered with fine black leatherwith gold decorations.The top surface is solid and has a thin inner drawer.In the middle of the writing desk there is a drawer that contains two inkwells.It comes out with an automatic mechanism when the desk is opened.The drawer can be removed, as shown in the photos.It can also be moved at will.On the upper part there are a letter holder, a leather calendar,three side drawers for writing accessories and anothertop surface for pens.This writing box will be sold with the accessories shown in the photos: a pen, a goose quill and two inkwells.There are many photos that show in detailthe perfect condition of this desk.The item has been part of the history of this English family for many yearsand now I hope it will get into the collection of a sophisticated collector.Happy bidding!
