US$4,485.49 This is a lovely antique French mahogany and ormolu mounted desk in the classical Empire style, circa 1880 in date. It has been crafted from solid mahogany and is smothered in fabulous ormolu mounts reminiscent of the Empire style with Egyptian motifs such as sphinxes, griffins, urns, laurels and Napoleonic symbols. The gilded bronze mounts show a very high level of craftsmanship. It has a fabulous gold tooled burgundy leather writing surface. This desk was made from superb quality solid mahogany, the drawers have hand cut dovetails and the drawer linings are also of solid mahogany. It has three frieze drawers with three more in each pedestal. The pedestals are flanked on all four corners with flanking columns that are surmounted with gilded ormolu capitelli.
