This is an antique bureau dating to the late 18th century c.1780.Raised on shaped bracket feet highlighted with fine string detail and finished in wonderfully grained mahogany, this piece of classic furniture offers plenty of storage and purpose for modern living.Four cock beaded, graduated drawers are cross banded and strung and dressed with solid brass swan neck drop handles on oval plates with brass keyhole linings.Drawing the lopers and lowering the fall, a delightful interior and generous blue baized desk space is offered at a comfortable 77cm working height.To the rear of the desk space a central drawer and cupboard are flanked either side by four cubbies and further three drawers with typical brass pulls. The kingwood drawers run deep and pushing the top of the central cupboard door, decorated with inlaid conch in mint green oval cartouche, the 'up and over' action reveals three further shelves.
