The earliest representations of this figure were made by the painter Vittore Carpaccio in the 15th/16th century.Moor of Venice, polychrome wooden sculpture used in the past as an ornament. This item is particular and quite rare.This artwork is entirely decorated in gold; the uncovered parts and the clothes have polychrome motifs.Sometimes the statues had articulated joints in the upper limbs; in this statue the movable joint is the right arm with the oar of the gondola.The statue rests on a turned pedestal.Total height: cm 90. Width: 25/26 cm.
