Mother of God of Vladimir - 19th century

US$540.84

The Mother of God of Vladimir is one of the most famous icons in the West. She is represented as a loving mother, with the child putting his arm around the neck of the mother. In some versions, the right hand of the child is not there. Yet the mother does not look at her child. This means that the Mother of God already sees what the child Jesus will experience and therefore she stares ahead in a sad way. The image is very delicately painted. Both the mantle of Mary as the robe of the child are finely finished with an eye for refinement. The background is covered with a gold layer. This icon dates back to the 19th century. A date is written on the reverse: 1845 This was formerly done more often by the owners of an icon. The backside apparently has a crack. However, it does not continue to the front. Please study the pictures for a proper impression of this icon.Dimensions: 21 x 17.5 cmWeight: 375 gWill be shipped registered or can be picked up.
