Monastic Tibetan Door, 17th Century

Rare monastic tibetan door. This door is a painting on canvas posted on wood, and is represented a very complex design.
On can see an horse, an elephant and other animals go out from a tibetan skull. The skull is on the back of an anthropomorphic figure. There are many typical tibetan symbols. On the top are depicted tiger and leopard skin. The first represents the transmutation of anger into wisdom and insight and also offering protection to the meditator from outside harm or spiritual interference. The second is associated with the wrathful deities, Mahakala is usually seen with the tiger skin wrapped around his waist. Also every animal has a meaning.
Colors of the painting are natural and made from semiprecious stones and natural pigments.
