Beautiful medallion made of Nembro marble, depicting “The Justice”, completely worked and carved by hand. It comes from a Venetian historical law firm. In the traditional iconography, The Justice is represented as a woman, usually with sword and scales. The scales, the oldest symbol, has balanced pans, emblem of perfection and equity. The sword is symbol of punishment of the wicked and emblem of enforceability. Scales and sword together represent the two sides of justice: the first is the judgment, the second is the punishment. Please note the care and precision of the details, of fine and excellent workmanship. Especially the folds of the robe are of extraordinary quality. Good dimensions and proportions. Quite heavy.
